Roche Group - Agricultural Projects
ROCHE IMO PALM is an established agro-allied operation focused on large-scale palm oil plantation and production in Nigeria. Founded in 1968 through a collaboration between the World Bank, the Federal Government of Nigeria and the former Western State Government, the project was incorporated as a limited liability company in 1981 and is wholly owned by the Imo State Government.
The company manages 12,474 hectares of land across Okitipupa and its surrounding areas, with over 10,000 hectares originally planted and significant potential for future expansion. Its estates, located on both sides of the River Oluwa, are accessible by land and water and are supported by on-site processing facilities.
Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) are processed through modern milling operations to produce crude palm oil and palm kernel, with high extraction efficiency and sustainable reuse of by-products. The company’s flagship product, Special Palm Oil (SPO), represents over 90% of total sales volume and is supplied in bulk to industrial users for the manufacture of soaps, vegetable oils and related products.
Roche Imo Palm plays a vital role in supporting regional agriculture, employment and Nigeria’s drive toward self-sufficiency in palm oil production, with a clear medium-term strategy to expand output through the development of its reserve land.
